Why so serious?

When you’re craving something, the best thing to do is to just satisfy it. And that’s pretty much what I did. While I wasn’t able to fit in the chili cheese fries as I would have liked [I wonder if I can get those for lunch today? Hmm…but where?]

And let me tell you, it was so worth it. Saturday I went about my business, including making a stop at the Verizon store to get my $15 back for being charged for a service I initially declined. So when I upgraded my phone, I was given the option to try their V-Cast service for free for a month, provided I cancelled at the end of the month. I declined on the spot because I knew that 1] I wasn’t going to use it and 2] I was going to forget to call and cancel at the end of the trial, things I told the sales guy. Well wouldn’t you know, I got my notice for my bill on Friday night and it was a whooping $70 something! This was way more than I usually pay and I knew that I didn’t go over my minutes at all and when I checked, wouldn’t you know I was charged for that stupid V-Cast thing.

After a few minutes on the phone with a customer service rep, I found out that I had to go to the actual store to politely demand my money back, which I did. So now I’m $15 richer. Total score.

I spent the rest of the day wandering in and around several different stores, pinching inspiration wherever I could. Yeah buddy, I sure did. The whittling, oh it most certainly does continue. But I’ll get to that later.

I picked up a box of Froot Loops at Target [on sale for only $1.75!] and made the pigs in a blanket Saturday night in time for the premiere of the Avatar movie. Oh I can’t believe it’s over! That was such an awesome series and I’m totally buying it on DVD. It’s that good. Seriously, if you haven’t checked it out, you should do so post-haste. It is not to be missed.

But eating those pigs in a blanket was so incredibly satisfying. Even when I couldn’t eat anymore and still had to pile through the Beard Papa crème puff Lindsey bought for me the day before. I think we could have considered that torture, even if she did end up eating most of it.

Church was pretty good yesterday. Our pastor was out so his wife taught in his stead and boy does she fly through things. We were out before noon [okay, by my a few minutes but still]. We hadn’t been done with church that early since January or whenever we went back to one service. It was nice and I had time to try to truck it to the theaters to catch the last matinee showing of The Dark Knight.

Except it was sold out so I had to wait an hour and a half until the next show. I know, but I managed to do that quite well after spending time in Pier One just looking around and wishing I had an apartment to furnish.

When I finally trudged back to the theatre, I was instantly glad that I was by myself because the theatre was PACKED and I wasn’t about to sit in the front rows. But since I was a loner I could practically sit anywhere, which I did. I even scored a reclining back seat. I love those.

The movie…wow, you should go see it. I liked it. At first I thought I liked the first one better but now that I have had time to digest it, I think the sequel is starting to edge out the first one, if only for Maggie Gyllenhaal over Katie Holmes. Maggie had the emotional oomph to play the role of Rachel Dawes. It just felt a lot better than Katie. I mean, come on, would you believe Katie in the role of the Assistant DA? I didn’t the first time around. But I’m so glad that Maggie got the part. She definitely threw her weight around in that role.

I won’t say anything else about the movie because I don’t want to skew things for people who may not have seen it yet. But man…Heath Ledger…cuh-reepy! I loved it! And yeah, I thought the movie lasted like, a half-hour too long and could have easily had a third one from where I thought it could have ended but considering what else happened after that part? I’m totally not complaining about the extension. And I am utterly pleased with the random “cameo” of a certain someone. But that scene…oh it was INTENSE.

But that is all for The Dark Knight movie talk from me. I will say that I pretty much rushed home to talk to Lindsey about it so I could be “debriefed” and was disappointed that she was still sleeping. But when she did wake up we spent the rest of the night randomly talking about the movie. There was a lot of “Oh! And when that thing happened…” “OMG! I KNOW!!!”

So go see it so we can discuss.
