A Saturday in September

This weekend I had the chance to go surfing. We somehow managed to arrive within 20 minutes of each other, which rarely happens considering I was an hour late last time because I forgot what time we were supposed to meet up!
The fog was heavy in the hills on the way down Highway 1 getting into Stinson but thankfully it steered clear of Bolinas. Nature was definitely putting on a show for us this weekend, as I had the chance of seeing deer crossing the road and a plethora of pelicans and seals hanging out near the beach thanks to the fishermen that were trolling the area.
Unfortunately it wasn’t as generous when it came to waves as there weren’t that many but there were plenty of strong currents. Trace and I spent a good portion of the day trying to paddle back towards where the waves were! Eventually I just gave up and let myself drift back to the shore and started over. It was the only way we would make it out of the channel.
Evenutally we had to abandon our attempt at surfing and call it a day, ready to get our lunch on at the town’s cafe. While none of us would ever consider ourselves real deal surfers, we very much enjoy getting together and attempting to stand up on the board, because that’s really all we’re doing. But the best thing is that there is no pressure for a good day. If we get waves, awesome. If we don’t, then it’s slightly disappointing but being out on the water in the warm weather is always a good thing.
Especially when you end your day chatting and laughing over lunch.

Things have been fairly interesting around the house the past couple of weeks and I’ve had a lot of things on my mind, none of which are exactly bloggable per my arbitrary privacy policy. So I guess there really wasn’t any reason to mention that huh?
Anywho, my mind has been on other things and not the blog. I didn’t even have the motivation to blog about much of anything besides what I thought about Wicked, which I already did – a day late. But I got it done. Barely.
So what have I missed covering? To be honest, a whole lot of nothing. Lindsey’s trip home is ending [she flies back down tomorrow] and I did get my final grades from my accounting and operations management classes. Apparently I did well enough on the finals since I pulled down an A- in both classes!
I am so excited, especially after I had to quit Accounting the first time I took it at Michigan since I was struggling so hard. I don’t know if this class was just way easier or if my basic foundation made it easier [I think it’s a combination of both] but I pretty much breezed through this class. Which was such a relief since that means I’ve upheld my end of the conditional admission now can stay in the program.
To be honest, those conditions had me sweating bullets because I wanted to so badly to stay in the program. It was just unfortunate that my quantitative scores on the GMAT weren’t impressive at all. Well, that’s not entirely true; the most impressive thing about my quantitative scores was the massive increase I made during the second exam. But thanks to some awesome professors and helpful classmates I made it through. Amen.
Other than that, I’ve been enjoying my break from school. Saw Wicked, as you know, and am now prepping for my church’s Resurrection services as I’ve been tapped for the drama ministries skits during the week. I’m bummed that I missed out on another season of snowboarding but I’m heavily anticipating this season’s surfing opportunities. I really want to be good enough to use a fiberglass board.
One day. One day.
