On Saturday I was driving into San Francisco over the Golden Gate Bridge right as the fog was rolling in. The sight of fog rolling in and down the hills around San Francisco are one of my favorite things about living in California and specifically the Bay Area. I really wish I had some kind of firepower on my camera so I could have taken a photo that would give that image any justice but alas, I do not. But I highly suggest you come to visit and behold it for yourself.

There’s just something about watching the fog crawl over and down the hills [even when you’re coming into the City from the south on 101]. It seriously makes me happy when I see it even though it’ll wreck my hair later.

But my trip, when I came out of the Rainbow Tunnel [officially the Waldo Tunnel] all I could see was the very top of the bridge and it was just gorgeous. I really wanted to pull over and try to take some pictures but I was on my way to a baby shower and parking in the City will easily add another 10 – 20 minutes to your overall travel time so I had to trek forward.

As much as I love San Francisco, there’s just no way I could live there. Sure there are plenty of things to do in the City but I love my sun way too much. I love experiencing summer and warm weather more often than not. And I love not having to deal with the fog daily which would mean I’d have to flat iron my hair EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. And that, my friends, is no treat. There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing your hard work being undone in a matter of minutes.

Also, if the bf does move here, I know how much he’d like to have some space in between houses, which actually is a premium in the Bay Area to begin with [he comes from the land where the yards just stretch] but nonexistent in San Francisco. Unless you’re really rich. I would like to be able to give him a little space, even if it’s no where near what he’s used to. But, I figure, smaller yard means less yard work. Either way, we’d have a better chance of accomplishing that goal living outside the City; and for less money.

For now I’m contented with just visiting the City whenever the mood strikes. Thankfully it’s close and easy enough to get to in the instances that I do want to explore a bit so it doesn’t have to be some big production. It’s the best of both worlds really.
