Remembering every day
I went to visit my dad on Saturday, the first of many Memorial Day weekend visits, and when I pulled into the cemetery, I saw it was decorated for the Memorial Day ceremony. The pavilion was filled with chairs and there were flags on every grave. The sight of all those flags made my heart swell.

After tending to my dad and righting a flower pot on a neighboring grave, I took a moment to just take in the sight of all the flags blowing in the wind and while it was a small profound moment, I felt at peace. All these men and women served this nation for whatever reason, they gave their time to the protection and service of all of us, some of whom gave their lives. It made me think of the individual soldiers and their families and the sacrifices they all made together. It’s not easy being part of a military family but they are the soldiers’ greatest support.
So I hope you all take a moment during your day to remember the soldiers who have served and those who are serving now. Thank you for all you’ve done for the country.
