My own Christmas miracle…

I was supposed to appear at the county courthouse today to take my turn in the jury pool. I know it’s my civic duty to sit and judge my peers but the last thing I wanted to do is sit in some jury room all day hoping I don’t get picked. Who summons people for jury duty so close to Christmas? Is the Grinch running things at the court house these days?!

I didn’t have to report! I didn’t have to wake up super early in the morning to trudge myself down to the county courthouse and hope I was excused. I was fretting over my luck because, as unemployed, there’s isn’t much I can say to get out of serving. It’s not like I’m going to face a hardship by showing up. All I had left was extreme prejudice. But now I don’t have to worry about for a whole year! Did you know how long I happy danced it up after that? I’d probably still be going if I didn’t have to go to sleep.

I know I won’t be able to avoid the Jury Duty call forever but it’s nice to have at least one little victory against it.
